Who We Are: What We Believe
Lutherans on Sin and God's Love
Lutherans acknowledge the world is not a perfect place, and none of us are perfect beings. We believe “sin” does not describe a list of “things we do wrong.” Instead, we believe “sin” is shorthand for the fact that our relationship to God, our relationships to one another, and our own lives are all less than perfect, even broken. It’s true that God has shown us the way the world and each of us could be, and we have fallen short of the mark.God offers a healing of all this brokenness and imperfection on the Cross. Through faith in God’s promise of love, the gaps within ourselves and between ourselves and others, and even God, begin to be bridged and the brokenness begins to be healed.
We believe even doubt is a part of faith.
If you have faith;
don’t have it, but want to;
or even if you wonder about it...
As a response to God’s love, Lutherans gather in community to return that love to God by worshipping the Triune God, serving our neighbors, studying the Bible, and supporting one another in our faith. We may never achieve wholeness and perfect health in this world, but we want to, and out of love for God and for neighbor, we work toward it.
