Worship: Kids in Worship
Come have fun with us at Sunday School!
We provide an excellent, age appropriate learning experience for children during the 9:00am worship service.
After we begin worship together in the sanctuary, hearing the announcements, singing, and praying together, the children are led out by one of our Pastors to Sunday School.
Kindergarten- Sixth Grade
Preschoolers have their own group and do crafts and stories.
Large Group
First, they gather together as a large group to hear the Gospel of the day. They receive a child friendly message (sermon) from one of the pastors. We also pray and receive offering.
The children are then broken up by grade and meet in small groups with their adult guides.
Kindergarten-3rd
The younger students respond to the lesson they have heard through crafts, games, and small group time. They remain with their guides until the service has ended. Parents may meet their children on the patio or at the Shay Youth Center.
4-6th graders
The older students respond to the lesson in their small groups with prayer and reflection. They then return to church before Communion. They are invited to walk into the church and quietly find their families for Communion and the end of the service.
Our Sunday School is based on the basic order of the worship service. The children experience all the same parts of the worship service as the adults, though we try to have them do it in a way that is more age appropriate for them. They hear the same gospel lesson, hear a sermon from a pastor and respond to the word of God. The older children learn to spend more time in church and participate in communion. We have found this style of Sunday School allows both the children and their parents to get the most out of God’s word and the worship experience.
