Pastor Brian Hiortdahl brings with him years of experience which includes becoming a rostered ELCA pastor in 1997. He is a graduate of California Lutheran University and received his Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina. He is originally from Los Angeles and has family in the area.
His first call was as an Associate Pastor in California, where he served for four years. He then moved to the Chicago area, where he spent 12 years as the pastor. He has spent the past five years as a Senior Pastor at Atonement Lutheran Church. He was invited by the former Presiding Bishop of the ELCA - Mark Hanson - to participate in Bishop Hanson's roundtable on the state of preaching in the ELCA. He has contributed to the "Faith Lens" blog on the ELCA website, "Living Lutheran."
Now, we begin a new chapter in the life at Shepherd and turn our focus to the future, and believe God has a big calling and great things in store for Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. To God be the glory!
If you don’t have a church family, we would love for you to visit and join us to be a part of this exciting journey.
