Pastor Brian Hiortdahl was ordained in 1997. He is a graduate of California Lutheran University (history and religion) and received his Master of Divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina. He is originally from Los Angeles and has family in the area.
His first call was as an Associate Pastor in Chico, California, where he served for four years. He then moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he served for 12 years before spending five years as Senior Pastor at Atonement Lutheran Church in Overland Park, Kansas. He was invited to participate in then Presiding Bishop Hanson's roundtable on the state of preaching in the ELCA. He has made several written contributions to the "Faith Lens" blog on the ELCA website and "Living Lutheran" magazine.
Pastor Brian has a reputation for playful preschool chapels and children's messages, thoughtful sermons, and his love of baseball.
