Mission Outreach

The theme verse is from the story of the Good Samaritan - Luke 10:27 So Jesus answered and said,

 

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, will all your strength, and with all your mind” and “your neighbor as yourself”.

2026 OUTREACH SCHEDULE

 
FEBRUARY

  • February 1 & 8: "Share the Love" announcements and Scrip promotion.

  • February 8: Food & Sock Drive collection.

  • February 9: Delivery & Distribution at Central Lutheran (Lead: Gina).

  • February 9, 10, or 11: "Share the Love" Packing Day at SOV (Caryl to coordinate with Jan/Office).

  • February 13 (Tentative): Distribution of goodies to staff and SOV community.

 
MARCH

  • March 8: Food & Sock Drive collection.

  • March 9: Delivery & Distribution to Central Lutheran.

  • March 14: Launch of Hot Meal Delivery

    • 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM: Prep 30 meals in SOV Kitchen (Shan to provide list).

    • 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Delivery via 1-2 cars and wagons.

    • Note: Use Thrivent grant for hygiene kit materials.

  • March 18–22: Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) Event at Salem Lutheran Glendale.

  • March 22: SOV Group Shift at FMSC after church (Pastor Rod to provide code for 8-10 slots).

  • March 31: Mission Outreach Meeting (6:00 PM).

    • Discussion: Decide on partnership with Central Lutheran vs. Haynes Elementary/Local shelf.

 
APRIL

  • April 12: Food & Sock Drive collection.

  • April 13: Delivery & Distribution.

  • TBD: Jesse Gabriel Day of Service (Pierce College & Hope the Mission).

 
MAY

  • May 10: Food & Sock Drive collection.

  • May 11: Delivery & Distribution.

  • May 26: Mission Outreach Meeting (6:00 PM).

  • June 14: Food & Sock Drive collection.

  • June 15: Delivery & Distribution.

  • TBD: Caregivers' Luncheon/Tea (Tentative).

  • July 28: Mission Outreach Meeting (6:00 PM).

  • TBD: Summer BBQ / Movie Night

    • Target: Include Scouts, preschool, and community.

    • Action: Purchase inflatable screen (<$200); apply for BBQ food grant.

MISSION LEADERSHIP & LOGISTICS

UPDATES & CANCELLATIONS

  • Plastic Collection: Discontinued (will not proceed with benches).

  • Sock Distribution: Gina has assumed leadership for Bombas sock deliveries to Central Lutheran and NoHo Alliance.

  • School Partnership: Pastor Rod to meet with Haynes Principal regarding food shelf needs and holiday assistance (Thanksgiving/Christmas).

 
HOT MEAL DELIVERY (Starting 3/14)

  • Lead: Shan (Shopping list/Prep).

  • Prep: 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM (SOV Kitchen - 30 meals).

  • Delivery: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM (1-2 cars + wagons).

  • Notes: Use remaining Thrivent grant for hygiene kit materials to include with meals.

 
SUMMER BBQ & MOVIE NIGHT

  • Equipment: SOV has a projector.

  • Needs: Purchase inflatable screen (<$200 on Amazon).

  • Licensing: Chip has coordinating info.

  • Funding: Apply for food grant; target audience includes Scouts, Preschool, and the broader community.

 
PARTNERSHIP DECISION (March Meeting)

  • Current February/March Food Drives will go to Central Lutheran.

  • Committee will discuss pivoting future months to West Valley/Haynes/Internal Shelves during the 3/31 meeting.
