About The Event
This year, ELCA churches will unite on Sept. 11 for “God’s Work, Our Hands” Day projects that help us serve and love our neighbors. Here at SOV, we’re designating Sept. 10 and Sept. 11 “God’s Work, Our Hands” Weekend.
Join us on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to Noon in the large parking lot for two great ways to help our community. We’ll be collecting socks, canned goods and shelf-stable pantry items as part of our regular #SecondSaturday Food & Sock Drive – with a special request for cereal of any size or type. We’ll also gather on the lawn to tie fleece blankets for people experiencing homelessness. Our goal is to make 22 blankets in 2022, so we need your help. (Don’t worry, we’ll teach you how!)
On Sunday, Sept. 11, join us for worship at 9:30 a.m. and feel free to bring your donations of cereal, canned food or social. After service, from approximately 10:30 a.m. to noon, we’ll be back out on the lawn to tie more fleece blankets, with lessons provided.
If you cannot make it on the 10th or 11th, you can still help by donating $22 to support the cost of blanket material. To donate online, click https://bit.ly/3og5OGB.
This weekend of service is graciously supported by a grant from Thrivent.
