Walk the Labyrinth

The labyrinth at Shepherd of the Valley is an open invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and connect with God. This ancient spiritual practice has guided people for centuries—drawing hearts into prayer, reflection, and renewal.

Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has no wrong turns and no dead ends. It is a single, winding path leading to the center and back again, a simple yet profound reminder that God is always walking beside us.

Why Walk the Labyrinth?

Walking the labyrinth is more than a quiet stroll. It’s a way to:

  • Find stillness in a busy world

  • Reflect on Scripture or prayer

  • Seek guidance and comfort

  • Experience healing and hope

  • Deepen your connection with God

Each step invites you to release distractions and open yourself to God’s presence.

How to Walk the Labyrinth.

Entering
Pause for a moment before you begin. Take a deep breath. Set an intention or say a prayer such as, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).

Walking the Path
As you walk, let your thoughts settle. You might offer prayers for loved ones, seek answers to something on your heart, or simply rest in quiet conversation with God.

The Center
When you reach the center, linger for a moment of stillness. Here, many find peace, gratitude, or a renewed sense of God’s love.

Returning
As you walk back out, carry with you the insights, comfort, and calm you’ve found. Pray for others, give thanks, and bring God’s peace into your daily life.

Your Journey, Your Pace.

Some choose to walk in silence. Others listen to soft hymns or instrumental music through headphones. Each journey is personal, there’s no right or wrong way. If you encounter another walker, simply step aside and allow one another space and grace.

Open to the Community.

Our labyrinth is open daily from dawn to dusk and welcomes all who seek peace, prayer, or reflection. Whether you come in joy, in grief, or simply in need of quiet, may you find this sacred space to be a place of inspiration, healing, and hope.

The Shepherd of the Valley Labyrinth was made possible through the generosity of Lowe’s, the Southwest California Synod Warner Trust Grant, and the faithful support of SOV members and friends. We give thanks for this gift to our community.
